What we do
with your data.
Last updated . This page describes what actually happens. It is not a compliance statement.
This website
arkinous.com is a static site. There is no account, no login, and no cookie set by us. Fonts are served from this domain, not from a third-party font service.
Hosting
The site is served by Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare receives the technical details of each request (such as your IP address, browser, and the page requested) in order to deliver it. We do not run an analytics script on this site: there is no tracking beacon, no advertising pixel, and nothing that follows you to other sites. Cloudflare's own request logs are the only record of a visit.
Browser storage
When you dismiss the Tunicate beta announcement on the homepage,
the browser stores one flag in localStorage so the
announcement is not shown again. Nothing is sent to us.
Downloads
The macOS and Windows installers are hosted as public releases on GitHub. Clicking a download button requests the file from github.com, which is governed by GitHub's own privacy statement. The source ZIP is served from this domain.
The Tunicate waitlist
If you enter your email address in the waitlist form on the
Tunicate page, the address is sent to a Google Apps Script we
operate and appended, together with the time you signed up and the
word tunicate-waitlist, to a Google Sheet operated by
Arkinous.
We use the address for exactly one thing: sending one message on the day the finished Tunicate release is available. It is not used for a newsletter, not shared with anyone, and not combined with analytics.
To be removed before or after that message, reply to any email from us or write to siyoung@arkinous.com and your address is removed from the sheet.
The visitor survey
The homepage has a short, anonymous survey. If you submit it, your answers — the role you picked, which product interests you, how you found us, the 1–5 rating, and anything you typed in the open question — are sent from your browser to a Google Apps Script we operate and appended to a Google Sheet operated by Arkinous. The path you submitted from is recorded with them. Because your browser contacts Google directly, Google receives your IP address as part of that request, the same as for the Tunicate waitlist above. We do not ask for your name, and the answers are not tied to your email address unless you separately choose to give it on the thank you screen.
An email entered there is stored in a separate sheet and used only to tell you when the thing you asked about is ready. It is not joined back to your survey answers.
After you submit, the browser stores one flag in
localStorage so you are not asked again on your next
visit. Nothing else is stored, and clearing site data clears it.
The Tunicate app
Tunicate is a desktop app that turns hand, arm, and clap gestures into shortcuts. It can use your camera and your microphone. Both are off until you start them in the app, and each has its own control.
Camera
When the camera is on, Tunicate reads video frames to locate your hands, arms, and upper body and to recognize the gestures you have bound. Frames are processed in memory on your computer and discarded. Normal tracking does not save images or video to disk, and no frame is uploaded anywhere.
Microphone
When listening is on, Tunicate analyzes the audio signal to detect the sharp impulses of a clap or double clap. Audio is processed in memory and is not recorded, stored, or uploaded.
Processing happens on your device
There is no cloud component. Gesture and sound recognition run entirely on your computer. Installing from the source ZIP downloads dependencies and the tracking models from the internet once during setup; the packaged installers include them.
What the app writes
Tunicate stores your bindings and input settings in a local settings file (see below) and shows recent activity inside the app. It does not create an account.
Where Tunicate keeps its settings
Bindings, camera and microphone choices, and sensitivity live in a single file you can inspect, back up, or delete:
| System | Path |
|---|---|
| macOS | ~/Library/Application Support/Tunicate/settings.json |
| Windows | %APPDATA%\Tunicate\settings.json |
The file can contain application paths and custom commands you have bound to gestures. Review it before sharing an exported configuration.
Questions and removal
Write to siyoung@arkinous.com to ask what we hold about you, to be removed from the waitlist, or to report anything on this page that does not match what the software does. A person reads every message.
